We originally had another, smaller, casita reserved but ran into some problems with it so we contacted Joshua, the property manager. His immediate solution was to move us to Nomad Casa which was a large house with a great view and would have been significantly more expensive. His objective was to make us happy and showed a commitment to guest relations and customer service. He turned a potentially unfortunate circumstance into a win-win situation. Casa Nomad is a short drive from the Plaza but in a quiet neighborhood. It is a beautiful property with great amenities.
The house was in excellent condition and well-suited for our extended family. There are three bedrooms that can each accommodate two adults comfortably. There's a third media room off the great room that can be closed off and forms a good bedroom for one child or adult. The master suite is upstairs and very private. The other rooms are all off hallways from the great room. Beds are very comfortable. Plenty of pillows and towels and other amenities make it very welcoming. Large attractive kitchen and open floor plan is great for cooking at home rather than eating out. We used the wood-burning fireplace in the great room every evening. Hot tub was fun and we used it a lot with our kids. The 7 minute drive to the plaza and conveniently located a bit off W. Alameda on a dirt road and outside the busiest areas so you can enjoy sunsets and peace and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Three families, one from NY, one from Texas, and one from NM were able to enjoy being together for a week to visit, eat, sight-see, hike, and shop all from one location. Another couple stayed close by in the Casita. Thank you for a wonderful week!
We loved both properties -- their great location on the edge of town with fantastic views of the Jemez Mountains and the glorious sunsets, the large parking area, the cleanliness and condition of the properties, the luxurious bedding and towels, the interesting art work, and the special toiletries in each bathroom. We have several suggestions for making future renters even happier: more teaspoons, forks, and knives; wastebaskets in each bedroom; more mixing bowls; more patio seating (perhaps stacking plastic chairs); more seating at the dining table than the six chairs provided (perhaps folding chairs). We did experience a small annoyance with the gas range: the burners would continue to "spark" even after they were lit, but that didn't prevent our using the range. With the exception of some early misunderstandings in the process of renting the casita, our dealings with Gordon Schaefer were cordial and we found him to be helpful and readily available. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who's looking for an outstanding vacation in Santa Fe.
We loved the house and location. It is one of the nicest homes we have visited. We three couples take a trip and rent a home every summer. We have just a couple of suggestions: 1. All of us had cell phones, but we couldn't find a local phone book. 2. In the evenings we love to read or play board games. The lighting in the main living area isn't adequate for that. The overhead lights don't work.3. The back patio/hot tub are wonderful. There needs to be more seating out there, and a hummingbird feeder would really be nice.
Nice place. The location is great...quite and tranquil, yet close to town and the 599 bypass.
the TV /DVD for each site needs to have printed instructions such as how to play movies;which buttons to push etc; not enough toilet paper was supplied;one TV did not work at all;but we had a great time!!
Excellent pre-arrival work and a beautiful property upon arrival. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. The kitchen is incredible and I would highly recommend the rental if you enjoy cooking.
Top notch vacation rental close to Santa Fe and all services. Views are outstanding and the home was equipped with everything you could ever want. The decor was stylish and comfortable. The service by management staff was perfect!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is absolutely beautiful -- great views! Interior decor is lovely. I highly recommend this home.
We loved the home and location. Only complaint was house sleeps 8 and not 8 to 12. It really only sleeps 6 adults comfortably. We almost brought 2 extra adutls to make our group have 11 and are glad we did not. So, overall the home/location/casita are great. We just think the information makes it seem like it sleeps more than it does. Or, the information includes the casita and that should be specifically separated in all the ads.
The only reason I didn't give a perfect score to this property was due to two extremely minor glitches. 1) the tv remote in the master bedroom didn't work and 2) when we arrived-after a very long drive- we couldn't get the front door unlocked. The latter problem was rememdied very quickly by a call to the property manager who gave us the code to get in through the garage. Overall, a wonderful location, a wonderful house, and a wonderful vacation.
Comfortable, well-appointed and spacious. Beautiful views. Good value. Take the personal items out of the garage...can't park cars in there with all the stuff on the floor. Need to fix or replace the stereo. Need more trash bags and toilet paper. Unclear what to do with recycling...both bins looked like trash too me.
Five-star house tucked away in Santa Fe. Every amenity is available, including hot tubs and views of the mountains from your shower. Overall a gorgeous and luxuriously decorated home.
There were several small items that needed some maintanance. Cabinet door in kitchen broken and falling off. Grill did not work even after the property mgr. brought new canister of propane. (Casita grill barely worked) Cook top needs some adjustments (starters) Leak in right bedroom closet and right bathroom. Propery mgr. was made aware and he came out with plumber but it looked like a major repair and they were going to address it after we left.
Casa Nomad could be a great vacation home. It is well laid out and had room for a fmily. We were very dissappointed however, with the general state of disrepair. The management tried to fix what they could, but this home needs some TLC.
The house was beautiful. The master bedroom was especially nice. There were a few minor problems, the stove needs a little maintenance work (burners would not stay lit and lighter was not working well), the TP holder in the master bedroom kept falling off, and there was a small leak in the main room, but these were minor things. Overall the house was in good condition and very comfortable. Thanks.
We rented the house woth another coup;e. We are all 4 golfers and our stay was during the British Open. The guys were frusted that there was no remote control for the main tv. The cleaning staff was there when we arrived, & they attempted to help, but to no avail. Also, in the master bedroom there were dvds, but no dvd player. The house was in very good condition & had a great location for getting into Santa Fe.
We crammed 12 people into this house but it still felt roomy enough for all of us to hang out. The sunsets from the back deck were amazingly beautiful. The master bedroom upstairs was very nice and the other bedrooms were good. My mother stayed in the casita next door and it provided her with a nice place to rest and relax away from the rest of us. She really liked having her privacy too. The house is a bit of a drive from the city center but we cooked in 2 of the 3 nights so that was not an issue for us. We requested 2 rollaway beds which they provided but it was hard to find some room for them. Overall, we loved the place and everyone in my family raved about the nice facilities. The kitchen is huge and was perfect for cooking in. Overall, it was the right place for us.
nice house but ugly location if i go again to santa fe i will prefer a nicer location .to far from groceries and also ididnt like that the house is in this location
The ad listed space enough for 12 persons. There only was sleeping for 8, there was no sofabed or cots. The dining table and chairs were unacceptable. A basic table with 8 chairs that weren't broken should be there.Guests should not be told to check the burners on the stove were on properly. The people that cleaned it and took it apart should check it. I'm sure it was an expensive stove but if it doesn't work well, it is not impressive. All other items were fine. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with the basic necessities.
We were satisfied with the house until we found that the washing machine didn't work and the outdoor gas grill didn't heat to cooking temperatures. Property Manager's solution was for us to take our clothes to another house to wash. Repair serviceman interupted our dinner time for well over an hour without resolution. This should have been scheduled at a different time. Property Manager suggested to use neighbor's grill, which we didn't do, wasn't convenient and really doesn't make sense. Considering rate these were major inconveniences since our vacation time was to be R&R and cooking at home. Gas cook top in kitchen had its issues as well.
This property is a beautiful house in a great location with spectacular views. However, there were quite a few things wrong with the property. For instance, we had planned our meals around grilling every night. When we arrived, we discovered the BBQ grill wasn't working. We left a message on the emergency number supplied at the house. No one ever returned our call. We tried the 800 # we had used to book. They answered but our cell phone dropped the call. We called back right away and the call went to voice mail. They never tried to contact us. In addition to the grill, the stovetop was broken, there was a cabinet face missing, the master sinks wouldn't drain. We did the Santa Fe century bike ride on Sunday and wanted to take baths afterward, but the downstairs tub drain was broken and wouldn't stay filled. On Monday morning I again tried the management company. They answered and were apologetic. They said they would research it, give us a complientary night and a credit for our trouble. Carlos said he would call back that afternoon and also e-mail re: the free stay. I never heard from him and left several messages. None were returned. Finally I called again and reached him. I asked about the complimentary night and credit. He said the credit had been issued and I had been e-mailed re: the free stay. When I told him I hadn't received any e-mails , he rudely told me he was very busy and hung up on me. According to American Express, no credit had been issued. I have never disputed a credit card charge in all our years of staying in vacation rentals in the U.S. and Europe, this is a first. It's a shame such a wonderful property is managed by a company that obviously doesn't care about maintenance and even less about customer service.
Main complaint was that this place was extremely expensive yet had no air conditioning or fans and was impossible to cool off. We left at 6 am because we couldn't take the heat any longer. And the owners were extremely unhelpful -- did not respond to my calls asking for fans (there were none in the place) nor did they make any concessions after I complained. I was extremely disappointed in the place. One of the most expensive places I have ever stayed and definitely not worth the money.
