We were thankful that we were NOT downtown close to the plaza. What a congested area! Next time tell people better directions. We got the VERY UNscenic tour trying to find it! Just say "go to West Alameada and turn left (off St Francis). Go thru 2 stop signs and then start looking on your right for Camino Don Emilio!" Very simple.....very scenic, very comfy. Thanks Gordy! I did play the beautiful piano a little as well!
I selected this house for a vacation with my family. We had a great time but did find the living/dining space very limited for a large group. Also, I felt the description of sleeping areas was miss leading.
Excellent location and facilities. Comfortable, roomy, 3 bedrooms and 3 baths made for a happy stay
I'd recommend upgrading the television in the main room (only because Superbowl Sunday was a tad fuzzy). I'd say the heating could use a tweak to balance it better. Otherwise this home is just what a family needs in Santa Fe. Just a lovely spot. We will return!!
This review is actually for Casa Nomad, rather than Soulfood because we got moved to Nomad on our way to Santa Fe. Loved the house. Randy was great with helping us with whatever issues came up. Only suggestion I might add is that the window unit in the guest room downstairs is drafty and air leaking in on cold nights gave my family members sore throats/colds. Would also be very helpful to have someone there when guests arrive just to do a walk through the house on how to operate and find things like light switches, appliance operation, etc. One other silly thing - being from Texas, we love our iced tea. Since I see you have many guests from Texas, you might want to invest in an inexpensive tea pitcher for the kitchen. Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay.
Casa Soulfood is well located, has great views and we loved the space. Good layout, great master bath, although the big picture window has no blinds/curtains, so everyone in the neighborhood can observe whenever the lights are on. We had to go buy soap for shower, etc. The beds are great with flat screen TV & music in every BR. It was a bit too chilly to fully enjoy the patio & balconies, but they would be very nice in spring, summer , and early fall. The kitchen looked good, but we cooked almost nothing. It does need wine glasses, a big pitcher and one shelf of pots has collapsed onto the lower shelf. There is no working light at the entrance, so we were always fearful & tentative after dark. We scrounged enough firewood for several small fires, but some real logs would have been very nice. A neighborhood dog barked for 4 - 6 hours one night One of the ladies felt that the house was "a bit too lived in".....I guess she was comparing it to a nice hotel. The living room needs more seating; one 80" sofa and one chair is not enough for a 3 BR house. We only had 4 people there and felt cramped. A TV in the LR would be good too. Hot tub is pleasant. Pots of dead flowers add little.Overall, we enjoyed our stay; much better than a hotel for about the same $$$, but it could benefit by a woman's touch.
House was in a great location and overall experience was great. Only negatives were the following:1. extensive leaks while raining2. some windows missing screens3. not well cleaned prior to arrival - roach in bath tub, lint on floors, some linens dirty and/or stained
Good location, nice 3-bedroom layout, but did have some issues. Chief among them are the following:1. Neighbor's dogs begin barking about 5:30 a.m. when he lets them outside. They quit barking around 6:00 a.m. when they go back inside neighbor's house - very annoying!2. Patios could use better quality furnishings (tables and chairs).3. Difficult to control temperature inside house - thermostats appear to limit temperature settings.
The fold out bed frame was broken and the commodes, showers were dirty. The microwave was very dirty.
The house was not ready upon our arrival at 500PM. It appeard that the house had not been cleaned for a bit..there was much dust, dishes in the dishwasher, no garbage bags or paper towel..scarce toilet paper and soap/shower gel in the bathrooms. The hot tub was not working when we arrived. Dirty underwear was found lying in one of the bedrooms.
We arrived to find dirty linens, dishes, oven, moldy washer, and generally dirty kitchen. We spent the first night doing dishes, laundry, cleaning oven, and attempting to clean washer. Casita had a broken washer, bath tub drain, chairs, blinds, and no screens. Casa had broken chairs, lost or broken screens, removed smoke detectors, disgusting linens, and personal items everywhere. This property was not in a condition to be rented (private residence). Landlord said he would work with us. We felt we were entitled to reimbursement of cleaning fee and one night's free stay). He said he would give us the cleaning fee, but only refunded less than half of the fee. Although the location was great and views spectacular, we have never rented a place in such poor condition. We rent homes all the time, but none like this. I felt horrible as I chose it and brought 3 other couples!
